End of tenancy charges can be established in one of four ways:
- A tenant accepts the charges via the platform
- Charges are agreed following negotiations between all parties or an internal review from flatfair
- If the case is disputed, then the independent adjudicator will decide the charge amount (there is a £25 adjudication fee which you get back if the charges are reduced by 50%)
- If there is no interaction from the tenant, then the charges will be reviewed and may be deemed accepted should there be sufficient evidence
Once charges are established in any of the ways above, an invoice will be generated on the platform and sent to all tenants. The invoice will then require settlement in full within 5 days.
If there are other tenants liable, a proportional payment can be made on the platform, over the phone or by bank transfer. It is the responsibility of the tenants and/or guarantor to resolve any issues amongst themselves as to who will settle the invoice. All tenants remain liable for the full balance and can find out more about how being jointly and severally liable works here.
