Got questions on what an acceptable proof of address (POA) looks like? It’s worth checking your reference report to help you decide which documents you can provide, and if you need a bit more clarity, your reference provider should be able to help too.
Having a suitable proof of address is crucial to ensuring your landlords have acceptable tenants and in turn benefit from flatfair’s service. Failure to have valid proof of address could invalidate the protection offered by flatfair.

Here’s a list of documents which are usually accepted as proof of address:
- A gas, electricity, water, council tax, home service provider or telephone landline (but not mobile phone) bill dated within the last three months
- Valid drivers licence
- A bank, building society or credit card statement dated within the last three months showing your name and address at the time of application. (Please note statements from providers that do not hold a UK banking license - including many online and app-based banking and money management providers, are NOT an acceptable proof of address
- Letter from employer on company headed paper. You will need to ensure that the employer details on the letter match the details provided in the verified income section of the referencing report.
- Current mortgage statement
- Homeowners current household insurance policy schedule
- Current TV licence
- Current tenancy agreement signed and dated within the last 6 months (must be accompanied by the signed and dated certificate of deposit registration or deposit free schedule)
Remember that the address on the document MUST match the address on the referencing report, in order for the referencing condition to be upheld.
